Business doesn't stop for anything. At EPC, keeping your project moving forward is our priority. Here are just a few examples of our industrial-strength ingenuity at work.
Hoover Dam, Arizona/Nevada

The construction, expansion and modification of water and wastewater plants can be extremely difficult. Our plant group provides an invaluable one-stop source for structural, mechanical, control and instrumentation needs of the most demanding plants. The expansion of the wastewater treatment plant at Hoover Dam is just one example of EPC's comprehensive capabilities. This challenging project required EPC to more than double the plant's on-line operating capacity.

The plant's location in a tunnel within the canyon walls at the base of Hoover Dam on the Colorado River, magnified the project's complexity and environmental sensitivity. EPC successfully expanded the plant, calibrated the new instrumentation equipment and integrated it into the existing plant's computer system, while maintaining sewage treatment operations throughout the entire process.

"Their response is remarkable. When the Corps of Engineers and F.E.M.A. called on EPC, they were on the job within hours, and completed the job in three days during the Thanksgiving holiday."

The Arizona Flood

When massive flooding displaced local residents from their homes in La Paz County, Arizona, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and F.E.M.A. (Federal Emergency Management Administration) turned to EPC. During the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, EPC was engaged to provide a complete design and cost-impact analysis of the infrastructure required for relocating up to 100 families on an accelerated schedule. Within hours, EPC deployed survey crews to the site, while a 12-member team of engineers worked around the clock on the design. Meanwhile, estimators, project engineers and managers developed a detailed cost study and construction schedule. The entire design and study was finished in a remarkable 84 hours, meeting the critical deadline.

Sky Harbor International Airport, Arizona

EPC worked through the record-breaking air traffic during the week of Super Bowl XXX and The Phoenix Open to replace the outdated emergency power systems serving the Terminal Radar Approach Control Facility at Sky Harbor International Airport. A backup generator and automatic-transfer switch maintained backup power throughout this critical change-over. During the project's high-risk periods, EPC scheduled local air traffic to be managed by a sister FAA facility in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The project was completed on time, on budget and without incident or power failures.

Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado

When a bonding company was faced with a multiple-unit housing project in default at 11,000 feet in the Rocky Mountains, EPC rose to the challenge. In a matter of days, EPC developed an innovative plan to construct the multiple-unit dwelling project in a short, four-month season. EPC implemented high-tech modular construction techniques to expedite the project. The site and foundation work was executed while the structures were being framed and built in a quality-controlled environment off-site. The procedure met the latest UBC standards and exceeded the contract's specified structural requirements, all within the original contracted budget and schedule.
